Stock market trading game added to my portfolio
I have just published a new addition to my portfolio. Pinstripe Trader is a virtual stock market trading game Facebook application. Users are given £50,000 of virtual cash to invest in stocks and shares.
The game uses real data from the London Stock Exchange so as your investments change value in real life, that price is reflected in the game too. Each month the most successful trader wins a free iPod touch, and there are other goodies up for grabs too.
In the few weeks the game has been running it has proven massively successful. It fills me with pride to see some people using it for hours on end - clearly very addicted to it. What’s more is the game has been driving quality traffic to the client’s site, which is what it is all about.
It’s been a fun project and I hope I can get to work with the Facebook API more now.

Congrats on the success of this one, Aaron! Talk about portfolio diversity. I’m curious how you teamed up with the client, how you found eachother. You’re the first person I know who has worked on a Facebook application for a client. Nice job.

Hi David. The client is IGM Investmore who I’ve been doing quite a lot of work for on a semi permanent basis. I’ve really enjoyed the Facebook App though and I’m chuffed to bits with how popular it’s been. Certainly one of the projects in my portfolio I’m proudest of.
